A monarch is a head of state who has (historically) absolute power and no term limit. Monarchs include:

  • Henry VIII, King of England, AD 1491–1547
  • Carlos I, King of Spain, AD 1500–1558
  • Louis the XIII, AD 1601–1643
  • Louis the XIV, AD 1638–1715
  • Louis the XVI, AD 1754–1793
  • Napoleon Bonaparte, AD 1769–1821
