You can find information in two different ways.
1. Explore by using search
Perform a quick search by entering a keyword (person, St. Augustine, or event, Vatican II) in the search box. This method provides results that match that word within the title or body of the page.
2. Explore by browsing topics in the left column.
Once on that topic page, the list expands to reveal subordinate headings (e.g., Mystics and Mysticism reveals the topic, The Way of Perfection).
What You Will Find as You Explore
Topic Pages
Short essays about the key periods in church history (e. g., early Christianity, Counter Reformation). Below each topic in the left column, there is a list of related entries with links to more resources.
Encyclopedia Articles
Links to detailed encyclopedia entries on entries on specific topics.
Informative Websites
Links to related websites on relevant topics. Clicking “other resources” in the left column brings you to web pages that contain links to websites with important information and resources (e.g., Medieval Academy of America).
Meet the Expert
Links that take you to the web pages of scholars in a particular field (when they are available), a mention of their most important work and Links to these expert’s books on Amazon, Google Book Search etc. for more information and the opportunity to purchase.
Definitions
Important terms are found by clicking Definitions in the left column. Click any term (e.g. benefice) to get to a page with a brief explanation and links for further research.
RSS Feeds
Subscribing to RSS Feeds in the left column brings you to the data feeds of a number of important sites (e.g. Pew Trust). Clicking on “External Links” brings you directly to the websites from which we draw our RSS feeds.
